    Re: Bargains

The Digital Camera Company are offering a 30% discount on anything shown in stock

Making the 11-22 a bargain of £378.98 for anyone who does not have and wants this lenss.

There are limited other Oly items and some 4/3rds mount Sigmas.

I just ordered the E410 Twin Lens kit for £276 just for the express purpouse of a light traveling kit while on holiday (it will all fit in my very small Heritage bag), the thought of hauling my other kit around I just did not fancy and at the price of a compact or bridge camera I could not resist. smiley

A fellow Olympian I told about it has just ordered the E-3 for £689-49  and the 50-200 for just £489-34. Big Smile [:D]

Not looked at othet brands but I'm sure there are some bargains.

Hmmm, failed to meet its reserve, whats wrong with people? Anyway, I've stuck it back up but I'd rather keep it than let it go for peanuts. Toying with the idea of having my E500 converted to IR which means it would still have a useful life.

    Re: Olympus Users

This thread has been quiet for a long time so I thought I'd relate some useless info. I've recently upgraded my kit 14-45 for the 14-54 and I have to say that the latter is a super lens, very sharp image, fast focus, much less distortion, and feels as it should - professional quality. I toyed with the idea of the 12-60 but as I have the 7-14 I didn't need the extra wide angle, and at less than $400 the 14-54 seems a bargain.

    Re: Olympus Users

I have just purchased the FP-1 Flash power grip. It's a fairly hefty bit of kit, the build quality is excellent and it comes with the FL-CB02 cable that couples the flashgun to the camera via the hot-shoe, but NOT the RG-1 cable to activate the shutter release on the grip. (Which, considering the price, is a disappointment)

It offers left or right handed usage, and the grip will only accept the FL-50 Flashgun, and the chunky handgrip holds 4x C (R14) Alkaline or NiCad batteries. With the FL-50 & Grip loaded with AA Alkalines = 510 flashes Using NiCd's in the grip reduces the number of flashes to 270.

If you have the grip on the L/hand side of the camera, you don't really need the RG-1 cable, whilst if you have the grip on the R/hand side, the RG-1 cable makes life a lot easier, as the grip gets in the way of the shutter release on the body. (as happens with many other cameras!) There are also 2x 3-pin sockets on the bracket that fits underneath the camera that can be used to link up the grip's shutter release to the camera, using the RG-1 cable (optional extra) ... This cable also allows you to also link up Olly's cable release via the other 3-pin socket on the bracket.

There are a number of secure stowage points built into the frame under the camera, for the various caps and covers on an E3, the FL-50 flashgun and handle-grip.

A lock is also provided below the swivelling head on the grip, so if you have tilted the flashgun left or right, it's position can be locked. You can also fit a padded wrist-grip or neck-strap to the grip.

My only major grumble is the pricing of the grip; It sells for about £270 in the Uk, whilst it's $270 in the US! That is a monumentally disgraceful pricing policy by Olympus UK!

Later on today I will hopefully post some shots of the camera, bracket & flashgun  set-up.

    Re: Olympus Users

I thought that I would bring this thread back to life again as I'm an Oly user and have a question about Oly flashguns.

I've just bought an FL-50 flashgun for my e-400 and am looking at diffusers for it.  Does anyone know if diffusers designed for the FL-36 will fit the FL-50?

I've been looking at something like this but can't find the full set like this for the FL-50.  Will this FL-36 kit fit the FL-50?

    Cheers

    Re: Olympus Users

Hallo, my name's PENTAX PETE but my son and daughter are OLYMPUS users!  My boy got a free OM2n + 70-150mm Zuiko zoom + a XA2 compact with 35mm Zuiko from a widow lady and I won an Olympus MJU 760 which I gave to my daughter in the Curry's Our Lives competition last year (with a pic taken on a PENTAX Spotmatic-a REAL camera using FILLUM!) I joined the kids in the Olympus Users' Club -they got sent a load of FREE goodies when they sent a letter saying they were banned from being full members of Brentwood Photographic Club ( not allowed to enter prints into the competitions) so they enter other comps.- my boy won £50 cash with his OM2n in the Essex Gardens Trust photo comp. and a mug with his photo on it on ePHOTzine.
FILM user since 1951-just got DIGITALISED! My Club members will never forgive me!

    Hi Ian,

I cannot find any dimension specs on them but my FL36 across the head measures 2.3in across and 1.5in depth so if the FL50 is the same measurment  they should be fine.

Thanks for that Paul.  I have just measured the FL-50 and it's nearly 3x2" so I guess that answers my question.

Having looked at the Gary Fong Lightspheres they are in different sizes for the FL-50 and FL-36 so that'll confirm it for me too.

CannOffice, thanks for the link, I was looking for a set that had the 3 plastic coloured diffusers and the fabric one too, like the one I had found for the FL-36.  I might have a go at making one instead.

    Cheers for the replies guys
