the cheapest price i can find currently is through Jacobs online  which comes in at 1198.00 ( and then 75 cash back) anyone seen better??

i could really use your help here as Im on a busget and cant find better and i really want to buy from the UK.

If you're really keen on saving money, do you have to have the Canon variant?

If not, the Sigma version is the dogs wotsits and costs considerably less.

i have thought about the Sigma ( i have the 24-70 2.8 sigma) however about a month ago I was bought a canon 10-22 and Im finiding that even in low light its sharper than the Sigma. Also the Canon has IS as far as im aware there is not a Sigma version with IS.... Or am I being dumb???

I'm in the same boat. I've been wanting a Canon 70-200mm f2.8 IS USM for some time now but recently saw the Sigma 70-200 f2.8 after borrowing Ben Birchalls lens (see Junes issue). I found it brilliant and when you consider its half the price of the Canon IS version I wonder if its really worth paying that much for. I bought the Sigma 10-20mm and have been very impressed - again several hundred pounds cheaper than the Canon version. The other bonus about the Sigma lens is that its black and matches the camera body - I really don't like the white Canon lenses - my personal opinion but I think they contrast too much with the camera bodies. I'm sure I've just stirred up the hornets nest now ...

That is correct he does sometimes do cheaper if you deal direct....

All items are bought from the states however the service is excellent and hedid me a great deal on a 10-22.....However on this occasion i wanted to be 100% on havig a uk item on such an expensive purchase.

So my new baby turned up this morning in perfect condition and works like a dream!!
