Lenses in China

    Lenses in China

    Hi guys, im off to China in a few weeks and was wondering if i need to be careful of anything when buying lenses. Im looking to get a couple of lenses, mainly the Canon 70-200 and maybe a 10-17 or somewhere around there.

    apart from the warranty is their anything i need to be careful about? Are their cutoms costs? Although ill unpcak the lenses and pretend i took them with me!

    When I suggested I may buy a lens on holiday I was advised to buy an old lens on ebay for a fiver and to take it with me - then to dump it there and bring back the new one in it's place just in case I was asked how many lenses I took out and how many were coming back. As it happened I got the lens from HK before the holiday so it never arose but it could be a useful idea just in case they check their xrays.

    Dulz - lenses carry an international warranty. The problems lies with camera bodies themselves which usually have a guarantee that is only good in the market of purchase i.e. you'd need to send it back to China if purchased there.
