    The Greatest....

Just because i am so obsessed with music at the moment, what are people's favourite music bands/artists?

I will start it off, i will put it in a list:

    Jimi Hendrix,

    Led Zeppelin,

    Pink Floyd,

Gary Moore (his blues stuff, not his metal hard rock stuff),

    Niel Young,

    and finally Eric Clapton.

I take it you're a bit of a 'metaler' then. Not my kind of thing but everyone is different and i know they are quiet popular so they must be good fortheir catagory.

Matt some of them are very good and listen to the odd time.

    I also forgot Mike Oldfield.

For me it's the following (in no particular order).  It's not an exhaustive list either as it depends on what mood I'm in as to what I listen to.

    Queen
    The Afro Celt Sound System
    Rob Dougan
    Moby
    Led Zep
    Pink Floyd
    Uriah Heep
    Rolling Stones
    The Kinks
    Coldplay
    Wolfstone

Blimey!!!  I could go on and on Smile [:)]

I recently bought a Bob Marley album and wasn't that too impressed but i can see why people like him.

Yes The Pogues and Bob Dylan are good, our house hold all love listening to The pogues.

    Re: The Greatest....

    OK for what it's worth:

    Rush
Dream Theater (number one on this random list)
    Dust Junkies
    It Bites
    Kingdom Come
    Dixie Chicks
    John Cougar Mellencamp
    Lacuna Coil
    Linkin Park
    Lost Prophets
    Megson (heart rending modern folk)
Pendragon (musicians in search of a decent singer)
    Puddle of Mudd
    Sass Jordan
    Seth Lakeman
    Kate Rusby
    Roddy Woomble
    Within Temptation
    Haydn
    Handel
    Pachabel
    Purcell
    Bach

and just about anyone who can play well technically. With some exceptions -

    Don't like:
Jazz (the drummer in my old band used to say it was the sound of a band falling down a stairwell - he was being generous), xenopobic or patriotic country, (c)rap 'music' and probably anything anyone on Radio one thinks is cool.

OK for what it's worth: Rush

One of the best drum solos I have ever witnessed was by Neil Pert.  15 minutes of genius and just a blur of arms and drum sticks Big Smile [:D]

    Tringle WP:
Pendragon (musicians in search of a decent singer)

"If I Were the Wind" is one of the most atmospheric tracks I have ever listened to.  I have that on my MP3 player at the moment and love listening to it while lying in bed at night.  That and "The Wizard" by Uriah Heep too.

    Cheers
    Ian
