I'm 20, and I could probably outmoan you all. Big Smile [:D]

Whats pisses me off at the moment is the teenagers that listen to music on their phones.
The speakers on them arent made for high quality audio output.
But not. Lets play it on our phone so we can all hear it while we walk around, taking up the whole pavement, coming in waves, making me stand in the road.

    And.
    1 word.
    Mopeds.

I'll join at 40 and a couple of months.
Added to everything said above, why is it that when you hear music blaring out of cars / houses its never any good?

    Cause no one has taste.

ITs either popular, fake tanned, bleach blonde, home sex video making morons.
Or repetative, drug fuled, mind numbing drum and bass.

I need to get my car, so I can listen to the Doors when I'm out.

Re: The grumpy old gits thread......

I think we've pretty much covered the "joys" of mobile phones being used as low-quality ghetto-blasters.

As well as that, todays current music trends are best described as "safe". Nobody's taking a risk, unlike a certain music trend of the late 70's. In other words... tedious, drab, uninspiring... unless you want to be famous.

Ah... fame... and the cult of mediocrity, fueled by the paparazzi and gutterpress. "Burned-out celeb spotted doing something vaguely interesting to you, so we'll announce it on the front page using HUGE MONO-SYLAB...SYLIB.... SIMPLE WORDS 'CUZ U NEED 2 NO AND UR 2 THIKC 2 COMPR... YEAH... INNIT!!!"

... can't wait for "The top 100 greatest moments of top 100 greatest moments of television repeat shows that were rebranded as a top 100 list" to be broadcast on the telly. This can also be used to boost the careers of countless ex-celebs who you've either never heard of, forgotten, or wish that you'd never seen.

Grumpy? I'm just getting warmed up.

Oooh - the cult of the mobile phone. Nice idea, you can keep in touch without having to find a phone box when you're out. But it's become an obssession! Everywhere you go phones ring - in spite of the laws against it people just have to answer when the phone rings in their car. How the hell did they all manage to survive before mobile phones became the norm? I don't have a mobile phone, I don't need a mobile phone - all that money i save! Do people really watch TV on their phone - in the days of the 4 foot plasma??

Re: The grumpy old gits thread......

Us manly types need to keep up with all the footies goals.
And you womens need to keep up with all the celeb gossip.
    Apparently...
Thats why we have tv clips on our mobiles.
To be fair, I've had my phone for about.... 4 years.
Its held together with celotape, and the speakers dont work properly.
    Still works okay.
So it means I dont have to deal with some acne ridden toss pot in the carphone warehouse.

"Big Brother! I'm a (wannabe) celebrity, come dancing and get me out of here on ice!"

Talent shows... as vacuous as the presenters and panelists. Who wins? Who cares? Name the winners from two years ago, and their current employment status.

Apparently its better to come second in those talent shows as there are less restrictions on contracts and such so you can do more and such...

Re: The grumpy old gits thread......

    Mobiles ah!

Had one when I was working and it was merely a tool, and a very useful one at that. Bought one when I retired, a pay as you go thingy. Over the 8 years since I threw off the yoke I've topped it up twice at £10 a go, and the last time I looked there was still £5.60 on it. I love it when the cold calling cretin rings me at home telling me he can beat any tarrif I've got and he asks the question, "How much do you spend a month on calls?"

I can hear his voice going up an octave or two when I say, "About 30-40 but some months it can be as high as 80-90 and I remember once it was 120".

I let him chunter on with his spiel for as long as he wants with him thinking he's struck gold before I tell him I'm talking pence here not pounds. I don't think he appreciates that because invariably he hangs up, how rude!

I feel particulary and satifyingly "Gittish" then!

    Hi Alan,

Thanks for just giving me the best laugh of the day... Please tell me that wasn't tongue-in-cheek and that it was a genuine typo! Big Smile [:D]

After re-reading the eleven-hundred odd words in my original reply to Andy this morning, I think I fall into the grumpy category and I'm not even 40 yet!Embarrassed [:$]

Re: The grumpy old gits thread......

Does anyone else enjoy the fart-like harmony that eminates from some "performance" car exhausts? You know... the ones that sound as though they're "blowing". Apparently I'm an idiot, as I can't see any reason why someone would want to spend a good few hundred pounds on some metal piping, when they can buy a hammer and nail for a fiver and get the same noise.

But, I'm not a complete idiot though. The car I drive doesn't have the "Brite-as-day" halogen headlights, which are always on full-beam in broad daylight, and are invariably misaligned, so the oncoming drivers are dazzled.

Re: The grumpy old gits thread......

I'm heading towards my 65th and feel if you can't have a good old moan, or wax grumpy now and then, what's the point of carrying on.  A good moan is essential to old age, not that I feel old, well not until some gorgeous blonde calls me 'pop' as they often do these days. Yes, a thread for miserable old gits is a good idea.
