What annoyed me today?

Apart from the four miles of standing traffic 'cos some caused a three car pile-up in the early hours of the morning which has meant that an entire morning's worth of motorway traffic has come through my little town!

I noticed too that a certain pompous, arrogant, racist little oik has made a return to this forum... just when I thought this place couldn't go any further downhill!

what little oik??

What annoyed me today (or rather yesterday evening)...

Our phone has been cut off for no obvious reason. However, an un-obvious reason was a reconfiguration of our ADSL supplier (used to be split between the provider and the national PTT, KPN) such that the ADSL supplier also deals with the connection as well as the service.

Now, calling our home number gets an "out of service" error...

They were only to transfer the ADSL connection...looks like they've tried to transfer the whole kit and kaboodle without notifying me.

What really gets my goat is the lack of information. What's wrong with sending an email telling me when they plan to do this and what the impact is likely to be.

my phone has been off for about a week now.. i keep meaning to call them but i dont car much as i use my mob for calls and most incoming from the bt line are for my son anyway ..
the main thing is that the internet is still up and running .. which after all is the only reason i needed the flippin expensive bt line in the first place!

Well, true to their word, the phone line was back by lunchtime. Now I just need to find out if they've undone the ADSL connections and disconnected the house from the internet.

True, and nowhere so than in the Netherlands . If you want a prime example of poor service come and visit Holland. The Dutch have an expression, which they proudly inform us, has no translation in English: Gezellig! It's like the German "Gemütlichkeit", which is loosely translated into "cosiness".

A foreigner visiting often hears the natives exhorting how such and such a place is gezellig. After numerous trips to such places the only common qualities of these places is the service is excrement and there is a candle on the table. Needless to say, amongst the ex pats, "gezellig" translates into "Sh*t service and a candle on the table."

One subject we havn't touched on is people who smell-you know the types,the ones that are in front of you in a supermarket queue,or behind you on the bus,who generate a whiff like a recent exhumation,the ones who's underwear would stick to a wall if thrown at it-these so called people have no excuse in the age of running water and soap,drown them all in a vat of bleach and boiling water - hideous shower of peasants the lot of them!

Tailing a known shoplifter at work only to be stopped by an indian man asking for an application form.

Walked all the way up to Lincoln Cathedral, got in the door and my camera batteries decided to die within about 1 minute of the battery icon flashing.

Last time it flashed red for four days before it died!

Jedi if you need any help (over the internet obviously) give me a shout, I'm a bit of an expert at putting IKEA stuff together, Ikea Kitchen (that was hell on earth 2 weeks turned it 4.5 weeks), Ikea PC bureau type unit, Ikea TV unit, and put all my friends Ikea stuff together and she had bought an entire flats worth of Ikea stuff......

Being made aware of the presence of Stan in the forum once again (now in the form of cannoman) and experiencing the displeasure of again crossing swords with the man. If he's reading this then I'd just like to add that I travel to the UK about 4 or 5 times a year for the purpose of meeting old friends. If you'd care to send me your address by PM Stan I'd very much like to include you on one of my friendly visits. Let's call it a making your acquaintance call.
