I'm very pleased with the Tamron. I was using the Pentax 200mm f2.8 DA* but wanted the greater flexibility. Considered the sigma as I had one before but the reviews of the Tamron were very good and it was cheaper too. It's said to be quite slow focussing on Nikon and Canon but the different system used by Pentax means it's not too bad on my K20D - don't get the AF speed I had with my 40D but there are other compensations! Unlike some Tamrons it does'nt suffer from purple fringing which is a big plus when you photograph birds on water. A bit heavy but, of course, I've got in body stablisation.

Ok, am boldly leaping into the fray!  Please be kind, I just got my DSLR.  I should also add somewhere that I use a Mac, and find iPhoto fairly useful.  I do have PhotoShop Elements, but jeez it scares the hell out of me!

I know it's a bit soft, but I was using a Bigma at full tilt at 7am, having been in the hide for 3 hours.

But I got him! Finally! Fabulous. (It's taken 15 months to find something to PP this and do it justice).
