In search of that magic moment...

This is the Beetham West Tower just down the road from the Liver Building in er... Liverpool! It's also the only place I've shot where I've had earache from a security bod! Once he got told he was on a hiding to nothing... he walked off!

Another one up early today eh shelfy!

 I am amazed you got this shot of what could be taken to be the Pudsey Town Hall  office windows on the day I took Voluntary Early Retirement back in January. What a grand day - although I was stupid enough to be persuaded to go back part time for 10/11 weeks to help them get through an unfinished restructuring I had left to get out of.

Still in mid-July back to lots of time to take photos and wonder how I will eke out my pension in these days of petrol. power and general price hykes!!

On the photo I do like the curves and hanging structure on it looks almost painted on.

hi all,

i took this on holiday in canberra. its the view from the top of the new parliament house building and in the distance (thru the 'window') is the old parliament house and then further down, the war memorial.  i really like the idea of the word Australia and the coat of arms.

so far, i've done a curves adjustment and sharpened. i will probably crop it using grids/guides to even it up on the sides, but.... can i get some feedback on tow other things that i've thought of?

1. should i flip it so that the words are read 'correctly'? i'm persoanlly liking the fact that it's backwards, tends to add something extra? but am wondering what others think.

2. is there distortion that needs correcting? i'm not sure aobut these things. i am able to tell  when i see before and after shtos, but am not sure if it' needs doing here. sometimes, i actually prefer the 'before' shots, since they add a different view of something 'ordinary'. anyway.. onto the pic for critique.

Your Canberra parliament picture looks good as is to me. There is distortion that you can get rid of by going into the filter / distortion / lens section and going around +12 on vertical perspective transform. You can see by the tile lines it is out but correcting it means you lose some of the image hen cropping back from the transform and I feel the picture loses by it. I tried the horizontal flip too and I would be tempted to use license and do that but perhaps not bother with the distortion change.
