Thank you for the rapid response i got from the two major Photo magazines in the UK on this subject .
PhotoPlus and Photography Monthly.
oRGie:lol, its just a question that has been asked many times before ;)
I understand that, but would have thought people on here would still pass on advices on.
Thanks Adrian for the reply, in the last few days i have gone and bought the Sigma 10-20mm i am happy with it as well.
Yep,
I bought the Sigma too and have had some excellent results with it - well pleased with it.. thats what matters. Oh and don't pay any heed to the smart a**es on the forum. You'll find there's always someone like that on every forum.. who cares!!
Thank you for the reply.
Dont take it the wrong way. 99% of questions on here will be answered as there are loads of friendly people on here who are more then willing to pass on the advice, Its just the odd one gets missed.
Stick around, its a good bit of fun here! I would have answered, but It would be a pointless answer based on reviews Ive read , as I havent owned or used either!
I can only comment on the Sigma and I love mine. It's a fairly affordable ultra wide angle that has pretty good contrast and sharpness. Here's a quick sample:

See that little circle type thing at the end of my reply, it's a smiley and that particular one is a smile. It can be difficult on a forum to transmit your exact feelings when posting but I do think smileys help.
You were saying people from other forums had replied to question re lenses. In a light hearted manner I replied with a smiley smile on the end. Lighten up man.
As to your comment, I'm certainly no know it all, I'm probably a know very little type, as other people on this forum will no doubt testify.
Anyway stick around, this is a great forum with lots of helpful and knowledgeable people (perhaps not me) who are only too happy to help and advise.
Oh, I forgot, keep smiling
The problem is.. who's used both lenses and can therefore compare? So I guess you're down to technical comparisons. There is a website aimed at 10-22mm users (sorry I don't have the URL), so I'm sure you'd find comments against both lenses there, plus the other manufacturers, for comparison's sake.
Personally, I have the Canon, which I love. I shot a wedding with it recently and it performed very well. I took the plunge and paid more for the Canon, but not based on any reviews. Jason.
