Went to the Festival of Speed last Sunday and gave my new Nikon 70-300mm VR lens a workout! It was also my first attempt at panning, which was an experience ![Big Smile [:D]](/emoticons/emotion-2.gif)
I started of with the camera set to single shot and a fairly short focal length. Found that with my first few attempts I kept missing the target and either got the front or rear of the car/bike in the frame. Then switched to coninuous shooting and my success rate improved! I then wanted to try and got more of the target in the frame to 'fill it' so to speak. This then reduced my margin for eror dramatically and I started to get the front or the rear of the object again!
Strangely, I found it that the motorbikes produced the better panning shots, not sure why ![Smile [:)]](/emoticons/emotion-1.gif)
Anyway, it was a superb day out and I got some good shots, and for my first attempt at panning I was fairly pleased. I'm not anywhere near getting this technique spot-on and still have a lot to work on, but it was good experience.
Any feedback on the first 3 shots would be really appreciated as they shpw my panning efforst more than the other photos.
Cheers for looking ![Smile [:)]](/emoticons/emotion-1.gif)
