    beauxreflets:

Trying to photograph young Swallows about to leave their nest (and chasing the ever hopeful cat away). Failed to get the shot I wanted when adjusting ISO, so I still have a challenge for tomorrow!

Well done N - I like poetry that makes sense and provides new thought. ( PS. I can still remember the heady smell of Mackintosh chocolate over the Chapelfield Gardens while listening to the brass band, and the walk past the Theatre Royal to the colourful market awnings - I bet Norwich has changed somewhat from those distant days of childhood.)

    Regards

    Andy

You mean like these, who left the nest a few days later. Big Smile [:D]

    Nice shot.

I'm trying to get open wing shots as the young leave in first flight - but the nest is in a poorly lit area and I hate using flash to much in case I damage their eyes (plus the shadows it creates).

Just received an email from someone saying 'impressive' regarding my entries in the comp' so that's made me feel good today too.

I used flash for that shot, and strange as it might seem, you couldn't see them until I fired the first flash, and they all popped their heads up ready for a feed. Big Smile [:D]

Re: What made you feel good today?

    Great work,

The ones I've been photographing are now fully fledged and trying to pluck up the courage to hop out of their mud wall - Though they were quiet when I just looked in, if they grow any more the nest will become to small! Both parents are trying to encourage them onto the nearest perch, so hopefully I can get time in the morning to record maiden flights? It always happens so quickly!

Like your dragonfly shot - always hard to catch them well in motion.

    Regards Andy

Thank you for the kind words on my poem, (and to everyone else) . It took a lot of my emotion to write that.

Norwich is still a really nice city, now got the forum, which always holds events, like tonight i did salsa dancing there. Also at chrstmas they have a big ice rink just outside it.
Chapelfield gardens is still a nice place, though it is very busy because of the new shopping mall which got built on the same spot where the chocolate factory used to be.

There is always bagpipe players around the city, which i love....and i love a man in a kilt. :)

    Flash away.

Re: What made you feel good today?

    Hi Natasha,

Sorry I don't wear a kilt and or play bagpipes. I had heard that the choc' factory had gone but sure glad the gardens remain (the flower beds were always brimming with colour). I remember my mother twisting her ankle (ending her ballet days) as we walked to Willow Lane (me with a patch over one eye skidding upon the wet leaves and my brother chatting away in the push chair).

There are some great pictures to be taken around Norwich (even more so now with contrast of old and new architecture) - Elms Hill to New Library - such a diverse city to enjoy.

    Regards Andy

Taking delivery of my Sigma 120-300mm f2.8 lens yesterday.

Oh boy, what a beauty! So well built, nice and smooth action, great AF and sharp to boot!

The x2 Teleconverter arrives today. 960mm f5.6 on my 40D. Close up of a fly's bum at 1000 feet (well you get the idea).

    C'mon baby!

Re: What made you feel good today?

Not exactly WMMFGT, though darned if I can find the WMM Laugh thread.... but, courteous assault Huh? [:^)]

On my walk back to work from the local shopping centre I was approached by an elderly gentlemen who'd obviously had several too many (I think he'd been ejected from the Conservative club), who simply asked me "Is is alright if I punch you?"
Upon my reply that he could try if he wanted to sample hospital food he then appeared to notice that it would have been something of a catch-weight contest, and commented "That's not fair, you're a big fella and I'm only a PE teacher!"

No worse for wear PE teachers were harmed during this episode.

Finally getting to sit down and rest after 10 hours with only a 20 minute break to grab a snack in the middle. I think I caught it up after yesterdays downfall though.

    Ha.

No, I know my rights, and when Its calmer, I'll often take longer then my alloted break. However if We're busy and short staffed, then I'll usually cut back on it to try and finish off the job rather then leaving it for ben tomorrow.

I like him, and he'd be giving me evils all the way through tomorrow if I left him a load to do in the morning. Plus, it would end up blowing over back onto me tomorrow when I dont get allocated any help on frozen because grocery is still a mess. So here's hoping tomorrow is easier on my back Big Smile [:D]

    What's making me laugh?

Good old Terry Wogan, and "Janet and John" stories in my headphones. The CD's being checked for the journey down south on Sunday. Big Smile [:D]
