Thanks for this, it came up about half an hour after I had spent two hours working it out from old threads. It does provide me with alternatives. All your posts of this type are very useful

    Glad it helped.

Only thing is, I haven't a clue how to do this using Firefox, or from a Mac etc, because
    I don't use either.  Wink [;)]

The text method works  in Firefox as follows You select your image click to enlarge it the right click and select copy image location - You next construct the [img line using Ctrl "V" to paste in the image location and complete the line as for explorer. The image can then be seen in preview. I have not tried this in quick reply but as I know it works the other way and I can use preview why should I bother trying it in quick reply mode where I cannot check it with preview. Hope this makes sense.

Re: How to add a photo to a forum post.

    Using FireFox ........

CTRl+T to open a new tab

Browse to the image - right click - "copy image location"

Back in the Digital Forum tab create a new post and click the "HTML" option at the bottom

    Type  <img src="

then CTRL+V to paste the image location

    Type  " />

click preview to show the image is working.

The finished code should look like

    <img src="http://www.site.com/image.jpg" />

    jont,

Can't you skip the ( got to "HTML" option )  And just use CTRL+V to past between image tags,

Re: How to add a photo to a forum post.

Appartently not .... the forum compiles the [img] tags which is non standard XHTML ... if you don't use the HTML tab it will resolve the code as raw text ge <img src="http .........> and not display the image.

You can always write the main text in "design" tab mode and switch over to the HTML tab to insert the image code

Re: How to add a photo to a forum post.

Sorry, you've lost me.   I always use BBCode to display my images on here, in design mode. Wink [;)]

    For example, [img]http://community.dcmag.co.uk/photos/lurkalots_gallery/images/237659/500x338.aspx[/img]

    Gives you,

Re: How to add a photo to a forum post.

This test was made with firefox by copying the image location (right mouse click, pop up menu option) and then Ctrl-V pasting it between the [ img] [ /img] tags.

Re: How to add a photo to a forum post.

I was fairly confident that it would work as well, but with the drag 'n drop Ffox tries to adjust the URL to a relative link, instead of absolute, which breaks the link when posted (wrong level of the filesystem hierarchy after the post). I was just checking that that wasn't going to happen with the Ctrl-V....

Re: How to add a photo to a forum post.

I also use Firefox and tried all the methods you mentioned but still can not copy & paste it? I think the problem lies with my photo, it has not got an address like the one you showed. It was a photo I put into my computer from my camera?
I did try all the other methods as well? Yet I have no problem with inserting pictures onto other sites I use, as they all have the http// button, and all you do then is paste in the rest of the data.
    Cheers, Smudger.

Re: How to add a photo to a forum post.

Smudger, the pic has to be on the web somewhere, and not sitting on your computer.  I think this might be your problem. Wink [;)]

Re: How to add a photo to a forum post.

Yes I just realised that, what I normally do is take the photo from the photobucket site, as it gives all your pictures a http// number there, and that's how you can paste them anywhere you want.
    Cheers, Smudger.

Re: How to add a photo to a forum post.

I tried it again, and got as far as pasting the http// number into the link box, then it all went blank after I clicked on to the OK Button?
    Cheers, Smudger.
