    Panorama

I bought a very old Slik tripod recently and noticed that it had a sort of a guage to help you take panoramas. I went for a walk around a local lake and took several shots using the tripod to help me. When I got home I stitched 4 of them together (by hand using PSP X2) and then converted to black and white in Lightroom using the channel mixers. What do you think of it? I couldn't find another post just for panoramas so perhaps I could start one. Can see some others please?

Far from perfect but it's my first go and I quite like it.  It's White Horse Hill at Uffington in Oxon

    Re: Panorama

WOW, looks pretty perfect to me!

Anyone got any more?   How do you make them? I hand stitched mine in PSP X2 but I know there are programs out there that do it for you.

Any tips for us beginners on setting up the camera etc? Should you take from left to right or right to left? What about exposure? I'm sure I read somewhere that you have to fix the exposure to the brightest area but I could be wrong. If it's a blue sky but with clouds scudding across the sky it must make a difference to the exposure of each one that you take surely?

It was when she said 'put the camera down and come to bed' that I knew I'd finally gone too far.

Some outstanding pix in this thread - here is one I did a while ago using my compavy Sony and handholding throughout...some of the joins are obvious but it captures the place quite well, I think. (Click pic for larger version)

    Re: Panorama

Great thread, something a little different!

Really like David's night time panorama, that's a great and unusual shot. Here's one of mine that's been around for a while. Taken some years ago with no special equipment other than a cheap 'mini' tripod and early compact Kodak digi-cam (3MP) placed on a wall. I'm still proud of it and keep re-visiting it to try out newly learned technique, love to know what you all think?

Probably looks better at full size, check out the gallery.

    Thanks, Adam

    Re: Panorama

I'm so glad I started this thread. The photos on here are outstanding. Loved the beach shot and the one above (and that one taken with a 3Mp camera too!) The symettry is really good in this one. No wonder you're proud of it.

    Re: Panorama

Some excellent examples of this technique...not used often enough perhaps..especially like Brighton Beach. This would make a fiendish jigsaw puzzle!

Here is one of mine from last year...taken in the Derbyshire Dales, again with the Sony T7 which is always with me when the DSLR is at home!
