No, you have to be over 18 to enter the normal one. What is wrong with the 15-18 year one then, i am entering that!!!

Re: Young photographer of the year 2008?

2007 winners weren't bad, except i don't understand why they picked winners that had clearly over edited there photos when it clearly said in the rules "No over editing".

Also some of the under 10 winners were using cameras such as Canon 5D? A little bit suspicious.

Re: Young photographer of the year 2008?

Well i am not going to single out photos but i think that some shouldn't of won. Some ofthe shots taken could of been taken by anyone in my eyes, but it was up to the judges.

Well in my eyes anyway i don't really agree with any of the winner's even the 18+ aswell, as the title is 'PHOTGRAPHER of the year' not PHOTO. The judges should choose a whole portfolio not single photos so you can see the consistency of the photos, instead of the odd one coming out good. I am sure the winners had a great portfolio anyway but it would just mean that the results will be more accurate. Sorry for being such a moaning git, but some of the highly commended and runners up (ie. 2nd and 3rd) are the same photographers they should really show other photographers not the same ones all the time.

Sorry if i wrote too much, but you did ask.

We're finishing site testing and making the last few tweaks as we speak - all systems should be go either this week or early next.

Re: Young photographer of the year 2008?

    Happy Friday to you all.

The Digital Camera Young Photographer of the Year 2008 competition is now up and running.

    http://www.youngphotographeroftheyear.com/

I'll post something official on the blog later so feel free to jump in now. If you registered last year you'll need to re-register as explained in the FAQ.

And as well as showcasing your work to the world on the site (and in print if you win), there are also prizes to be won.

The categories are only slightly changed this year in that the upper limit is 17 years at time of competition closing. Full rules on the site. Good luck everyone!

    (If you're 18 or over don't worry, there's a competition just for you http://www.photographeroftheyear2008.com )
