Cheap compact camera for timelapse photography

Hi there. I have Samsung Pro815 and that camera has function of timelapse photography, but it's limited to 99 shots, one per minute, which after throwing into video software gives skipping effect if you picture faster moving objects (like clouds in windy day). I would like to get camera which allows me to take pictures more ofte and with no limits of quantity (except storage amount of course).
I know Epson PhotoPC 850z gives this oportunity, even if it's quite old gear and has only 3 mpxels, but for video frames it's ok (at least for me). I found that camera on ebay twice, but did't have time to look after auctions to the end (work), and had been outbid (these cameras are going for like £30-£40!). I found list of suitable models here: http://www.zardec.net.au/keith/lapse2.htm, but most of the cameras listed there are doing burst or continuous mode instead of timelapse.
Now, I would like to find cheap camera which would allow me to be controlled from laptop through suitable software. And what software would I need if it would't be supplied with camera?

I am collecting money for my first DSLR, but in this time of waiting I am trying to get myself occupied with that, so if you can help please do.
