    Post your best here...

    Dear DCM members,

As i found out in the other forum "Photo of the Day" that it was only for photos that was taken on the day or at least recently. I always thought that if you post you best photo doesnt matter when you took it , if people comment on it and give constructive comments then that how you surely learn and improve. Doesnt even have to be your best but if you are trying something new or strange too. At the end of the day since we all call ourself photographers then we are the best people to judge and give advise.

And if you are leaving a comment please make sure its a contructive one and i think we should take David Bracher from the other forum advise if you are posting a picture maybe try and make at least a little comment about the picture before yours, just a thought seems like a good idea.

    Have fun...

    Cheers.

    Ray,

Thanks for starting this thread as I too fell foul of the point of the Photo of  The Day thread.

I like the photo you have posted, the way the sun highlights the antlers is good and lifts the image.  The only thing and it is a small thing that niggles me, but it can’t be helped, is the background.  I don’t know why but I notice more than I think I should.  Maybe because it is a light and dark as well as being on a slant.

Sorry it is just me I know.

Anyway here is one of my golden oldies that I've dug up and didn't post in the wrong thread –

     And Relax!

Nice to see that already we have a few post keep it coming. Alf i also see what you see and i am far from happy myself. I was thinking about repositioning myself but then i might lost the light and there was another !"£$@ photographer who was getting to close and started to spook the animals which i was not at all happy with so i let him know exactly how i felt, you partically dont want to do that in a 8+ male group.

Alf i like your picture especially the eyes of the cat, nicely exposed. Cute puddy cat.

Colloghi also a nice picture but maybe it can improve with some sort of light source. i'm not sure but i can see what you were going for, a good picture never the less.

hey, cool cats and urban decay, great stuff.

dunno if its my best..my favourites are often ones I've edited beyond recognition. But I was pleased with this one on a recent visit to Rickmansworth. Daughters of friends. a couple of others of them playing, running, kicking, jumping etc came out really well but my mates aren't keen for mr to display them. a shame but fair enough.

only time they sat still all day.

OK...great idea, Ray...if we are allowed to post "oldies" too, then that's cool. I like Shelfys pic because I think it has a "Fifties" feel to it, an air of innocence that is sadly missing in many of today's children. Captures a moment to be remembered by them when they are all grown up...

Here's mine - this place is very signicant for me, s I used to play under this bridge when I was a kid...in the Fifties! It has been removed and rebuilt in a museum!

Shelfy nice picture love the mood good choice to choose B&W i dont think it would have worked in colour. Maybe you could boost the mood with more contrast, not sure or maybe even sepia.

I like it. Have you thought about giving it a go in balck and white or a slight sepia feel?

Thanks for the nice comments. I took this through the glass at Marwell Zoo but I was not sure how sharp it would come out.

another cool cat, i really like the way its head is "side-on" so you get his markings / body in the background.

hey Heantun...is that a pic of the bridge after it was moved to the museum/ You did well to get the detail in the dark roof spaces. There's a similar one on the canal at Rickmansworth and i can never seem to do it justice. I love all that industrial heritage stuff.
