Given up trying to buy a Nikon!

    Further to these threads:

    Trying to buy a Nikon

Still trying to buy a Nikon

I've now had my fill. 4 cameras in one month.

Interestingly, here's a thread on stuck pixels with the Nikon D60:

    http://www.flickr.com/groups/d60/discuss/72157604241711789/#comment72157605340443247

To sum up, in the last month:

    1. Nikon D60 - flickering LCD
    2. Nikon D60 - flickering LCD
    3. Nikon D80 - stuck pixels
    4. Nikon D60 - stuck pixels

It's now sayonara Nikon. I'll be contacting a few people from this forum to flog off some of my kit.

I'm thinking Canon, or maybe Olympus. What do other people think?

Chris don't Sony supply the sensors for Nikon ,any complaints from Sony owners about this I wonder or just a bad batch supplied to Nikon?

I would not dream of advising you which brand to go with just in case you did not like it. Wink [;)]

Having used all but the latest Olympus DSLRs I'd recommend them - having used most of the budget/mid range Canons I'd recommend the 40D. Not sure of your budget but the 40D remains a bargain while it has cashback - on the other hand an e-510 with kit lenses is another bargain! Knowing how you like primes the 40D would give loads of options - on the other hand, with manual focussing, you can get adaptors for most lens fittings to use on an olympus - and keep metering.....and if you want a Nikkor to olympus adaptor I've got one going spare!!

Re: Given up trying to buy a Nikon!

Cheers for all your comments. I'm gobsmacked, because the D50 I bought two years ago has been absolutely perfect since the day I bought it.

The Canons seem to have the best lens range - I very much like primes, so this is a big factor. Not quite sure what I'd do with the 40D that I couldn't with the 400D, so I'll probably go for the 400D as there are a few bargains at present.

Olympus do look tempting, though, as they're so small and compact.

Indeed Chris and the very reason I recently got the E-420, combined with the dinky 14-42 or 25mm prime pancake lens it makes a perfect candid camera. Smile [:)]
