I was trying to test drive my trial download of NX2 with some wedding pictures from the weekend and am confused with the output and would welcome any helpful comments / advice as I struggle to get to grips qwith workflow issues.
The perceived problem:
The original raw file was 9.24 mb raw file.
I batch processed a group of shots and saved in a new folder at maximum jpeg resolution. The same file then showed as 1.26 mb.
When I open it in photoshop cs2 and look at the image size it is 28.7 m at 300dpi and shows an actual pixel size of 2592 x 3872 and that it will print at 12.9 x 8.6 inches.
My question is why does it show as such a smaller file size in NX2? Using a raw converter that I think came with a sandisk card I usually drop from a 9mb file to 4-5mb. Am I losing a lot of quality in this conversion?
Does anyone think NX2 is any good?
Should I save a nef, tif or jpeg files or a combination of them and won`t that take up loads of storgae space on my spare 500gb gard drive?
Any guidance appreciated.
I am off to try to convert it other way now to see what happens.
Update - as suspected the other raw conversion whilst slower, saves a file that is 72.3m at 300dpi,pixel size 4113 x 6144 and wil print at 13.71 x 20.48 - dont understan it but on the face of it no good downloading NX2.
