Under the Pier
Another one of good old Bognor Regis, home of the International Bognor Birdman where "human powered flight machines" (people in a bizarre variety of costumes including a skateboarding cow and Dr. Who) jump off the end of the pier in the hope of flying 100 yards and winning £25,000. Originally plain old Bognor, the town was granted the title of Regis in 1929 in recognition of the part it had played in the recuperation of King George V after a bout of ill health. A few years later it was suggested to the King that he might return to the town again. His reply was "Bugger Bognor". There's gratitude for you!
I've belatedly realised that this picture looks rather familiar and it's just occurred to me that that might be because I've seen something similar whilst studying the other galleries on the site. If I have nicked the idea from someone then I'm really sorry - but I must've really liked your image!
