Racton Ruin
Racton Ruin sits on a hilltop in West Sussex, looking out towards the Solent. It was built in around 1772 as a folly for the nearby Stansted Estate and designed by Theodosius Keene. There are stories that it was used by smugglers and wreckers to signal to ships and it is also apparently haunted. The ghosts of two 11-year old boys in 1950's clothing were reportedly seen floating in mid-air at around midnight a couple of years ago, although as late-night visitors to the Ruin are often armed with extra strong lager and recreational drugs, perhaps this sighting isn't too surprising!
