Sunset on Dartmoor

Sunset on Dartmoor

I took this a couple of weeks ago at a place called Nuns Cross Farm, somewhere in the middle of Dartmoor. It seems like a really remote place and was deserted when I got there, so I was surprised to look up after a while and find a steady stream of blokes in army fatigues with huge rucksacks stomping past behind me - turns out that the farm is used by the forces as a base for survival training!

It's quite a good shot, Anna. The stone ruins are bathed in a beautiful light and the pine tree adds a quirky tone to the image. Well seen and captured. Best regards, Rick

Great story Anna, must have been a bit of a shock! Well done for this beautiful capture, I like how you composed this leading the eye to see the gorgeous stones in the foreground, jumping on to the tree and the letting the eye to explore the beautiful sky. Zuzana

Hi Anna, when viewed at full size the detail is amazing, especially in the shadows.  You've exposed this perfectly and captured the feel of sunset beautifully with the warm tones and long shadows from the stone.  The sky is just fantastic, I could look at it for ages, it contrasts so well with the rest of the image.  Well done and looking forward to seeing more of the moor...  :-)

Hi Anna. I see what you mean now about the foreground, it's weird how it turned out in the mono version you did the other day isn't it. Much better this way, and the sky is gorgeous. Kind regards - Lee
