I entered this into a competition run by the London Photographic Association last year. The theme was renaissance, and this was the brief:- We are looking for digital photographs in colour or black and white on the theme of Renaissance. Life is full of moments when the human spirit triumphs over adversity, when the human eye suddenly sees the world from a new perspective, when we rediscover a sense of awe and wonder. You are invited to capture through the lens those instances when we suddenly see the beauty, value and meaning of life. I entered a series of 6 photos depicting my son's progress through his treatment for cancer. This one has been selected as a finalist and is to be displayed in a gallery in London in March. Thanks Guys, I received this today

Dear Peter,

Congratulations!  You have been awarded the second prize in the Renaissance competition and will receive £500 worth of vouchers to spend at Calumet Photographic.  Helena Christensen hopes to be available on 5th March to hand out the prizes so I hope it will be a good night!

I have copied in Catherine Gray, eve magazine's feature writer, who will be contacting you this week to interview you about your prize for publication in the April edition of eve magazine.

Please let me know if you would like to amend the text you provided to go with the single image (rather than the series). The text will appear below your image in the exhibition, and in the the hardback book.

Congratulations again and I look forward to meeting you on 5th March.

superb shot Peter and congratulations on the second prize. Looking through your gallery, your capturing of your son's fight with illness is simply inspirational and I hope the future holds nothing but good news for you and your family.
