Yellow on Blue

Yellow on Blue

This is Parkamoor jetty on Coniston taken about 45 minutes after sunset on Sunday. As often happens here, post sunset the sky was a bright, clear blue which was reflected in the water giving the whole scene a blue tone. I took a few shots and was looking for something a bit different so used my mini Maglight to illuminate the yellow gorse flowers.

Stunning, Darren.  Those yellow gorse flowers look so effective against that beautiful inky blue landscape.  Very well done - cheers Jo

It would have been a fab shot without the gorse, so you've added another dimension very well and cleverly with the use of a torch. Inspiring stuff. Congrats.

Great use of a simple technique, well thought and well captured.  A well deserved POTD.

I would like to see a more traditional shot also, without the gorse bush, as  I personally think it's such a wonderful scene on it's own.

Abrilliant image ... Love the tone and framing.

I take it a closed aperture was used to give strong sharp background and sharp forground detail.
The lighting is superb and a high quality finish

Well Done

Thanks for the kind words everyone, very much appreciated. A few have suggested that a more traditional image would also be good and as I live fairly close to this location I do indeed have a few. There are one or two others in my gallery already but I may post a more 'traditional' shot some time soon, will have a look and see what I can dig out.

Thanks again everyone.
