Following the tips in last months free B&W guide with the mag I've been compiling a few duotone images of Coniston jetties, so thought I'd upload another. This is the jetty at the North shore near Monk Coniston, taken at sunset as the others were.

Spent yesterday evening photographing a local cycling race but couldn't resist stopping to capture this scene on the way home, it's Coniston Water in the last of the days sunshine.

Coniston Launch Jetty

Took an early detour on my way to work on Tuesday to catch the sun rising over Coniston Water. Unfortunately the sunrise was not spectacular but I grabbed a few shots of the early morning scenery. This is Lake Bank Jetty at the Southern end of the lake where you can catch the steam yacht Gondola, you can just see the colours of the sunrise reflecting in the ticket office window.

Late Afternoon

After my last upload Yellow on Blue (my most successful to date thanks very much), a few commented that they would like to see a more 'standard' shot without the yellow gorse. Well, this was taken the same evening from almost the same spot but as you can see it is before sunset. The clouds were taking on a hint of pink and can be seen in the reflections. Hope you like it. Yellow on Blue

This is Parkamoor jetty on Coniston taken about 45 minutes after sunset on Sunday. As often happens here, post sunset the sky was a bright, clear blue which was reflected in the water giving the whole scene a blue tone. I took a few shots and was looking for something a bit different so used my mini Maglight to illuminate the yellow gorse flowers.

Fun Sunday

Took my son to the local animal park on Sunday and took the opportunity to grab a few shots of the animals, not my usual thing but got some shots I'm pleased with. This is a young Mandrill and he was happily playing in the sun doing backwards somersaults, hopefully I have captured his joy in this shot.

Princess and Pals

Another from my trip to Ambleside last Thursday evening, this time showing the passenger boats tied up at the end of the day. Again I thought the sky was great although not quite as moody as the other shot but there is a bit more colour from the sunset here. Title derived from the name of one of the boats, Princess of the Lake.

Woody Storm

Taken at Ambleside last Thursday at sunset. Earlier in the afternoon I thought the weather looked good for a nice sunset but by the time I arrived at the waters edge some stunning storm clouds had rolled in. Never got the tranquil sunset shot but these clouds more than made up for it. Thanks for taking a look. Darren.

Furness Abbey

Furness Abbey

Something new for me here, 'painting with light', my first attempt so go easy. Had a wander around Furness Abbey in the darkness a couple of nights ago and had an attempt at this technique. Sat the camera on the tripod with the shutter open as I ran around 'flashing' at the ruins. Had fun doing this but it took a few attempts before I got a shot without my shadow in it. Not sure whether the orange sky adds or detracts from the image but it is there as a result of the street lights on the road behind. 11mm, 4 minutes @ f/6.3 ISO640

This is a shot of Walney beach taken on Monday evening as my wife was doing the weekly shop at Tesco. The sun had set by the time I got there but there was still some lovely colour in the sky.

Coniston Water

I was going to upload this in the cool blue tones of my previous two uploads but decided to try a mono conversion. This was taken on the same evening as the others but shows the jetty from further along the lake shore. Have not done many of these so your comments would be appreciated. PS. It looks a bit dark now on my monitor at work, hope it's OK on your's. Thanks, Darren.

Apologies for uploading another Coniston Jetty shot but I've been away for over a week so don't have any new photo's. This was taken a little later on the same evening as my last upload, obviously a different composition though. Thanks for all the comments and votes for my last upload, very much appreciated. True Blue

Taken last night on my way home from work. I had already missed the sunset but the sky was now an amazing blue and this colour was nicely reflected in the water, which is Coniston by the way. Thanks for looking, hope you like it. Darren.

I was over the beach on Walney Island last night to capture the sunset and this Springer Spaniel was running around having the time of his life. Never taken shots like this before but I couldn't resist having a go, what do you think? Darren.

Taken at Tarn Hows near Coniston last Friday when we had a brief snow fall. Unfortunately I didn't have long as I was on my way to work, and when I did have time on Sunday the snow had all melted. Darren.

Entrance to Narnia

Well we don't often see it around here so when we woke up to snow on Friday I took a couple of hours off work and nipped up to Tarn Hows. This was taken on one of the paths around the tarn and the title was suggested by my wife who said it reminded her of the entrance to Narnia in the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Hope you like it.
