Llyn Teyrn - Snowdon

Tripod, Manual Ex, Spot metered, Sigma 10-20mm, CPL

Tis the rule of the SDCC (Salad Dodgers Camera Club), that nothing stops the group in pursuit of a good image.

Despite my normally excellent physical condition, I was overcome with Altitude sickness, Malnutrition, Dehydration, Malaria and Bird flu on the arduous walk up Snowdon and fell to the ground exhausted. As is the rule, my comrades left me to die, here, in the freezing wastes. My only recollection at this time, was hearing a voice saying ‘Can I have your camera’ quite possibly in a Scottish accent. I also recall someone trying to prise my tripod from my cold but not quite dead hand.

I awoke to the sound of the mountain rescue helicopter overhead. I desperately tried to signal them but they failed to spot me nor were they indeed looking for me. I later found out that Graham had dropped a fiver on pathway and had called the emergency services to help him locate it.

It was then my training kicked in. For what seemed like an eternity I was forced to survive on a diet of mosses, lichens and mountain water until finally I summoned the strength to walk the 300 yds back to the café.

In the evening my comrades ate cake.

lol! Great write up. Super detail and exposure. Great to see what the image reminds you of. It was pretty damn cold. We'd have picked you up on the way back. Cheers, Col.

Very nice shot Howie, great colours and detail. Sorry I was unable to be with you guys but I am pleased that you have all had some great results. Your amazing account is typical of the many brave adventurers who chance their arm to get piccies in this area, glad you survived though. I was at this spot yesterday but it was very hazy.
Best regards, John

LOL... A superb capture mate under extreme conditions,  a great reminder of a great days shoot,
Can i just explain my actions for leaving you in limbo on this lonely strecth of hill.. well it was like this Guv... Big Graham had all the toffee's and once i had spotted the first sweetie wrapper i knew he had opened the bag o them, when i did catch up i offered to carry his tripod bag..thinking this is where he hid them..no luck..like the cake ..all gone..lol.

A big thanks mate for turning up, we had a great time in your company as you were the only one that would travel in the car with us...not sure if it was as good for you, but i hope your ears heal soon,..lol. and you get rid of your scotch accent before your next shoot...lol. och aye the noo.

Firstly Howard this is a top shot and really well captured.
Now  then lad it wasn't steep at all, just a little unlevel in areas between the dips.
The fiver that Graham dropped on the path was meant to go towards the £25000 an hour for the RAF chopper to pick you up but they had to turn back to get more cake for their supplies.
The hills have been deadly silent since the DCM'rs headed back to their respective homes and the sheep even came out of hiding.
Brilliant to have you company mate, here's to another session very soon.
Ken.

This cannot be your image as there is no way you walked even this far up the hill. As for me calling out the emergancy services for a fiver I have done it for less that that. I think you were the only one to take this shot Howard and it has turded out great. Thanks for your company over the weekend. Sorry that we were so boring.

Brilliant narrative Howard... Best laugh I've had all day. That's the trouble with you seafaring types - You're used to moving over a flat surface - you can always go through waves! Us 'hardy' mountain-men have to go up mountains or around 'em!

Can't wait for the next invasion.
The girls say hi.
Take care,

Howie - this is a brilliant shot! It's one of the best veiws I've seen of Llyn Teyrn (and I've seen it hundreds on times!). The efforts you went to to get this shot were magnificent and worthy of a medal - and I really did LOL when I read about it!!!! It was a brilliant weekend in excellent company - great to meet you mate and I hope we can all get together for another "adventure" soon.
All the best,
