This is my youngest niece - a very lovely young girl, a very natural and full of life young lady! I think this is one of my favourite photos of her and i know her mother loves it to - but Kelce is not so keen - the reason - the freckles! She asked me if i had a tool that could photoshop them away - i told her i wasnt good enough to know how to do it .....LOL! Thats the thing with women they want you to spend hours photoshopping them into Jessica Alba, Angelina Jolie ....... when in actual fact everyone has a unique beauty in front of the camera!

Can you believe that we are in October! Spring has finally arrived in Cape Town! And in two months time it will be Christmas and Summer will be knocking on our door! That saying is so apt - Time waits for no man!

Spring is in the air

I am so tired of the doom and gloom - whether it be world affairs or the weather for that matter!!!! So when the sun came out to play today, I grabbed Lee and we went to the park - there is nothing better when the world is dark to watch the unbridled joy of a child at play! I know the crop is extremely tight here but i couldnt resist the infectious spring in her step!!!!

Animated RBHS Old Boys!

This is just for fun! The boys are past pupils of Rondebosch Boys High School in Cape Town known as Old Boys! When there are big derby days they come out in their droves to support their old school rugby team. They wear their old school ties with their casual clothes and their overlong hair, light up their cigarettes and bring along their beers (i am sure the headmaster has a heart attack every time!) but they bring such a spirit to the game that it is contagious. It has now become a tradition that the cheerleaders get the schoolboys to sing part of the song and then they turn to the old boys and let them have their chorus too! It makes your hair stand on end when you see them stand to attention, put their arms around each other and sing their school anthems with such gusto and pride!!!

My youngest niece asked me to take some photos of her and her best friend at a mini fashion show that was being held at the local hairdresser. Great advertising for them - but the the most awesome place to natural light portraits with a stunning backdrop of a great brick wall. I have decided to post a few as i havent posted many portraits lately!

It was my middle sons matric dance (the end of school dance). The before party was in the beautiful Franschoek! Then the dance was 45 minutes away, and then the afterparty was another 20 minutes away! Gosh if only they considered the petrol they drive out ...lol!

Supporting Dad

Every Saturday, my husband and I, are up at the crack of dawn to go watch our sons play rugby. My camera goes with me evertime to capture those wonderful sporting moments in my sons and thier teams lives. This Saturday was no different - except that there was a mist that covered the fields when we got there. I was sitting on a bench, waiting for my youngest sons game to begin. And i decided to try out the camera settings, when i looked through the viewfinder, I realised that here was an image to be had! All my sports photos are shot in jpeg, so i shot this in jpeg, applied a sharpening filter and posted. And to top it all off, i got some really good sports shots as well that day - who could ask for anything better!!!

I have had fun with the April issue of DCM - where on the disc is Perfect portraits plus replacement backdrops. I have used George Cairns high-key portrait tutorial for this one and then replaced the backdrop as well. I have learnt lots in this issue - so thanks DCM, keep them coming!
