Du Toits Kloof Pass

Du Toits Kloof Pass

My husband and I went 4x4 in the Boland mountains on Saturday - it was spectacular - he was happy - and i was happy with the scenery. On the way through a pass back to Cape Town, the sun was just setting and hitting the top of the mountains and I got this shot. The timing was just right another ten minutes and we would have missed it!

Beautiful scene captured here Jo, you must be pleased with this one. When we were out there I could not believe how quickly the sun dropped below the horizon and looking at your shot you did not have much time to get it in,the composition looks perfect and love the mountains reflected in the pool, a very pleasing view.....Bev.

Another great shot Jo, you are definately on a roll at the moment and loving the new lens, you are working wonders with it! For me.. the sunset and sunrise shots became wishful thinking! After actually hiking all the way up onto Table Mountain (which felt like climbing at times) and then all the way along to some renovated buildings for the overnight stop...8 hours of solid and relentless walking and climbing I couldn't move to get a drink let alone my tripod...as for getting up early the next day...forget it!! It was a magical trip though and i'll post a couple of shots for you to see once i get my computa back! Sharon

Thanks Dave, Bev & Sharon, i really appreciate your support!  Bev, you are right, we have wonderful sunsets but they disappear very quickly, five minutes after i took this, the light was gone! Sharon, i take my hat off to you to hike up TM, the last time i did that, i was a kid and i reckoned i wasnt doing it again! Do it once, not foolish enough to do it again!  I will keep an eye out for your postings - you are obviously dying to get back and post your images! Cheers JO

Really nice shot, lovely light.  The light changes incredibly rapidly here in Aus too, fast enough to be noticable while taking a series of shots for a panorama!  Well done, Alex

Thank you Alex & Hevans for your wonderful comments.  Alex, from what i gather, parts of Australia are very similar to SA and it seems weather wise as well!  Cheers Jo

Thanks Donny - the only thing is if you hit a golf ball here, you have a big chance of it ricochetting at you, as you are just surrounded by mountains here!  Just before this pass, there are some world class golf estates - especially Pearl Valley!  Cheers
