Jonkershoek

Jonkershoek

A few of us went to Jonkershoek, Stellenbosch yesterday to take photos in the forest. Was not a great day for me, firstly i brought along my tripod but forgot to bring the connection for the tripod to the camera - so much good the tripod was. I begged, stole and borrowed one for a while! And my poor mini took a bit of strain on the rough roads - Sharon's jeep roared around like it owned the place! Anyway this is the only shot that i salvaged from the day!

Great tones and the shafts of light very appealing Jo. I tend to leave the tripod quick release on the camera nearly all the time so I don't forget it, Sometimes forget the tripod though, LOL Rgds Alan.

Jo, I don't mean to be suspicious (honest!), but have you been at photoshop quite heavily on the light beams? Anyway, glad you caught this sylvian scene.  Tripod - ha, one of the things on my never ending list of things to get - I've got an old one, circa 1960, which I somehow acquired seriously used - nothing quite lines up anymore. But it is made of girders, so quite stable. Howard.

Howard, it depends what you mean by quite heavily - basically i remembered a tutorial in one of the old dcm mags - all i have actually done in photoshop here is - selected the rays and slightly increased the levels slider to emphasize the rays slightly more and then i brought a little more colour into the foreground. I dont consider that heavy photoshopping but its all a matter of opinion!  Alan, I also normally leave the tripod quick release on the camera but unfortunately i had used a different camera so i had transferred it and being of that age ...... forgot to take it!!!  I dont think i will ever make that mistake again!

Great shot Jo! That's pretty much as it was as I remember, I like your inclusion of the branch on the ground. Well done you! now I will take a look at what I got?!!! It was a great day Jo! I loved your face when you realised we had to drive through that stream!! (still makes me laugh!) Anyway I didn't see you for dust once we hit the motorway, ...where was the fire?!!! Rgds Sharon

Don't tell antone this but I once went out on a shoot, grabbes my camera bag tripod ect and off I went. Set up the tripod and then founf out that i had left the camera on my desk. I felt rather foolish. But please remember that it is a secret. Howevere this is superb photography Jo and you shoud be very proud of this shot.
