Tina,the hooks are a remnant of the old quarry workings and were used to carry cables from the tunnels along the walls of the rock face.You may also notice some holes drilled in the rock,these were test bores that were done prior to the construction of the Dinorig Power Station which lies in a massive cavern directly underneath this hole.On some occasions when the power station is running at full power the vibration can be felt on the smoth rock face as you climb.
