2 second exposure at f8 of a carousel. Black and white layer added and masked so that only the carousel and the little girl transfixed watching it go round are in colour.

"Alphanumeric" - quite simply scrabble pieces arranged on glass with black background and also black card under the glass. A rejected weekend competition entry as I opted for the blatant plea for votes in my submitted entry. ;)

Crowning Glory

Continuing my experimenting with both water and off camera flash. Here, I used the onboard flash (shielding it from hitting the subject) to trigger a flash in slave mode at 1/32 power setting and placed white card on the opposite side to bounce light back to try and even up the lighting. Water was "splashed" onto glass with black card underneath and black card as a backdrop.

Reflected Ring

My wedding ring, several years of wear and tear, but still as precious to me as the woman who wears the other half of the matching pair. A plain black sheet of cardboard was placed under a piece of glass and the ring was sat on top. A black card acted as backdrop and the ring was lit from the left and slight rear with a Sigma 500DG Super. The flash was also bounced back from a piece of plain whie paper to the right acting as a reflector.

The beach on a windy August day. Not the best conditions for sun bathing so instead I took the opportunity to capture the waves and wind in action.

Following a day at a rather windswept beach, I decided to try and potrait of my wife Tacey and our youngest daughter Teri. Sigma 500DG used for fill flash in AV mode.

a pair of wine glasses on a metal tray. I wanted a strong shadow so set the flash off the body and at an angle. Very challenging requirements for this weekends entries as no photoshoping was allowed other than basic curves and levels, and the addition of borders and title.

Bournemouth Eye against a clear blue sky. I wanted a very simple, yet graphic image of the tethered balloon, so chose to compose the shot pretty much this way and then, in photoshop, converted to LAB mode and added a curve adjustment on the A and B channels to give a better saturation to the red and blues.
