Bradgate Park - Leicestershire

Bradgate Park - Leicestershire

This is the mono version of the ruins at Bradgate Park in Leicestershire - this was the childhood home of Lady Jane Grey better known as the 'Nine day queen of England'. She was proclaimed queen on July 10th 1553 but relinquished the throne nine days later to Mary Tudor who subsequently had her locked in the Tower of London and tried for treason. Lady Jane was beheaded in February 1554. Disclaimer - I'm not a historian so please accept my apologies for any historical inaccuracies!

Given the rather sad history I think mono conveys the right mood. Nice shot Phil.

Mono just knicks it for me Phil with these sort of shots, I think the ruins stand out better against the greyer brighter sky and this give a real sense of age and history about the shot, but they are both great shots in their own rights. regards Steve

Tina, Steve, thanks very much for your kind comments. I'm still finding my feet with mono conversions and it's difficult sometimes to pick the right shot. Your encouraging comments tell me that I'm going in vaguely the right direction so thanks again. Phil

The Mono works Phil. Particularly like the brightness behind the building - really makes it stand out. Cheers, Col.

Nice contrasts Phil and this also have a lot of atmosphere. I think I prefer the other one. But both are great in their own way! Zuzana
