on the hike up to Boom Lake, we came across this tiny... teeny waterfall... it reminded me of a little fairyland thing, so I softened up the image a bit to emphasize it...

...another blue day from the long hike up the mountain with Chester and Kate... this is looking the opposite direction from the last shot I posted... and the lake curves... the horizon is actually correct as it narrows at the other end as well...

this was taken on the trip with Chester and Kate... at the highest point we went on, on our 5.3k hike up the mountain to Boom Lake... as you can see, we weren't anywhere near the top. I usually have the wide angle out, but wanted to show the scope and height of the Rockies better, to get the feeling of the size.

about a week ago, a hike thru the blue lake area, and the sky was totally flat, so once again, hauled out the old tobacco filter... lol to try to add some drama... hey, I can't do blue all the time...

Boz on our hike at Lost Lake today... trying out a new filter, a blue soft grad, to bring out the sky a bit, it also has the bonus of helping keep the exposure in the shadows of the foreground more manageable... the snow that was there a few days ago has gone a bit, but the lake is still mostly frozen.

Again from Fort Edmonton, I found this rail caboose, as yet unrestored, and with the flat grey sky, highlighted it once again with the tobacco grad filter - just slid it up to the upper edge... I think I almost like 'em better this way than restored!

Fort Edmonton again... was just taking this shot when the cell phone rang... shot it one handed while talking... click... the person on the other end heard it... but didn't mind that I was multitasking... it was another photographer who's comment was "gee, the nikon shutter is loud"...

more filter experimentation... I've used the ND grad combined with the Tobacco grad to be able to hold and accentuate the sunset... took a few exposures to get it right, but I thought the outcome was interesting...

the cool thing... and pardon the pun, about it getting colder, is at this particular bog, I could walk right out quite far on what is usually mush, and one wouldn't dare walk on this in summer, you'd sink in quite far... but it was frozen on Sunday, and minus 12, making it easy to get the framing I wanted for this... our weather can be very roller coaster this time of year... tomorrow it's going up to plus 18 again...
