Skyspace

Skyspace

James Turrell’s Skyspace – a permanent work created in the Yorkshire Sculpture Park’s deer shelter – frames a square of sky with an aperture cut in the roof. The project has been paid for with £800,000 set aside to celebrate the Art Fund’s centenary. The Skyspace has been created inside a 19th century Grade II-listed building and is the culmination of an idea Turrell had in 1993. The work does not affect the landscape or disturb the tranquillity of the site, but harnesses the changing light of the Yorkshire sky in a peaceful chamber.

Steve, it is great to come back around and see your talented eye back in the "light" again. I have a lot of catching up to do but what a treat to see this from you. The woman leads your eye upward as you catch the light from the brilliant sky. Well done as always my friend.

Super image steve. The sky looks superb and you've caught a great angle for the image.

Thanks Nancy and Stuart.  A big welcome back Nancy, its great to have you commenting and also looking forward to your postings too.  It was quite tight Stuart and I had to use the full wide angle to get it.  Cheers, Steve.

I really like this - really well exposed and how the heck did you manage to find a dry sunny day in the past 3 months ?  But seriously - lovely image, the sky is perfect against the plain room and the person looking up leads the eye perfectly.  Great shot - cheers - Nick

Thanks Nick.  This is fresh of the press!  This was yesterday, which wasn't really too bad.  It has been terrible weather though.  Cheers, Steve.
