Piazza dei Miracoli (Square of Miracles) - Pisa

Piazza dei Miracoli (Square of Miracles) - Pisa

My first post in a few weeks, as you can see (above) I've been away! When I took up photography last November I never imagined that I'd be wandering the deserted streets of Pisa at 5.30am looking for a decent shot, in fact you could say that is a 'Miracoli' in itself, lol. 15 minutes before this was taken the sky was completely clear with the sun just starting to rise, by the time I'd set up, it looked like this, an amazing sight that I never would have seen if not for my new found obsession. Within 30 mins it was all gone to reveal a dazzlingly sunny day. Hope you like it - Paul

I like it very much Paul. You've picked a great angle and captured a very different take on a familiar scene, full of atmosphere and mystery - well done.

This a magical shot, Paul. Our 'obsession' makes us see wonderful things that most people do not enjoy. Juan.

Colin, thanks for the great feedback, much appreciated. Jo, Thanks for your kind words, I'm pleased you like it. Like you, I spent ages wandering around the area before coming to the conclusion that I'd have to get there early in the morning before the place became overrun with people, just me and the street sweepers! The misty conditions were an unexpected bonus that helped to create a really special sight that I'll always remember. I'm beginning to understand that our passion for photography rewards us with so much more than just pictures.
