Waterworks

Waterworks

Ústí is a town in the northern Czech Republic, it was mentioned as a trading centre as early as 993. The town was founded by King Otakar II of Bohemia in the latter part of the 13th century. This image is of one of Ústí's two main squares. The main feature is the sundial fountain.

Lovely shot Zuzana, I especially like the higher shutter speed you used to freeze the water, and the colour of the sky.. its a good solid shot... Call me cynical, but if that was in my home town, some hooligan would have thrown concentrated washing up liquid in the water , and all you would see is foam far as far as the eye can see..  Best regards, Take care Mark

Water and cameras are a heady mixture at the best of times, but yours works vary well at capturing the scene.  I could even imagine the sound of the water as I expanded the shot to view it.  I am sure that this photo will be a reminder of your visit and will enable you to recall the occasion as refreshingly as the moment you took it.  You also had a wonderful weather and the combination of the buildings in the distance would make this a wonderful view for a postcard.  Warmest regards, Hoberty.

Great use of the fast shutter speed to stop the water dead.

This series of images from your trip home gives a really interesting glimpse of the Czech Republic Zuzana.  I like the way the sunlight catches the water in the foreground here and the lines created by the jets from the fountain.  So much detail to look at too - a lovely shot!  Kind regards, Anna

Good freeze frame image, Zuzana. I bet the kids (and the big ones) have great fun on hot days. I hope you had a paddle! Cheers, Col.

I like the composition - very varied and interesting lead in lines.   My only experience of Czechoslovakia is a 3 day visit to Prague years ago - beautiful city, great food and the people were so friendly.  Didn't have my SLR with me so I only have a few 'snaps' in the album.  I am determined to go back soon to capture some more of this wonderful country.  May need to ask you for a few tips on where to go Zuzana.  in the meantime please keep spoiling us with your images - cheers - Nick

Oh my God, I knew the moment to write a comment on this one would been arrived...how can i do it now ? ...lol...seriously, the perspective is great, and personally i believe the composition is excellent, the converging lines of the two series of jets of water       create an interesting corridor that lead the eye to the square behind the fountain and the vanishing point of the picture. well done. Cheers. bruno
